Green Tea – The Ultimate Age Fighter

September 27, 2008

I’m sure you all have noticed that green tea is becoming increasingly more popular in cosmetics in the recent past. Recognized for thousands of years for it’s health and beauty benefits, green tea, which is one of the most talked about antioxidants, is a common ingredient in beauty products for several reasons.  Primarily because it neutralizes free radicals to fight against the signs of aging. Green tea can also reduce under-eye circles and sun damage, jump-start collagen production, remove sun and acne spots, and balance your pH.

The Appearance Institute can customize a 30 or 60 minute “green tea facial” just for you!  We also offer several green tea based skincare products from the Fenix cosmetic line.  Please feel free to stop in to try out one of our testers of these amazing products!

Nonsurgical Nose Jobs

September 13, 2008

Hi Everyone!  Once again I’d like to tell you about a really interesting, little-known technique known as the “nonsurgical nose job.”

Although it’s an old wives tale that the nose continues to grow as we age, it is true that the nose begins to sag-along with everything else!  Ligaments and other tissues in the nose loosen over time, causing the nose to slide downward and have a droopier appearance.  For this reason, many patients wishing to rejuvenate their appearance have turned to the “nonsurgical nose job.”

Injectable fillers such as hyaluronic acid-based fillers Restylane and Juvederm, or longer-lasting Radiesse are injected into different areas of the nose to temporarily correct minor imperfections and create a more proportionate appearance by shaping the contours of the nose.  This quick treatment can fix issues such as minor asymmetry, depressions, bumps, a drooping tip, the angle of the tip, or a pinched tip.

This treatment is best left to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has advanced experience in using these products in the nose.

Juvederm Erases Wrinkles Naturally

September 3, 2008

Hi everyone!  Just wanted to tell you all a little about a popular dermal filler, Juvederm. Juvederm can be used to fill nasolabial folds, augment lips, fill in the undereye area, and more. It offers a natural way to turn back time, and reverses some of the most significant effects of age.The dermal filler is able to accomplish this because it is composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Although other fillers also contain hyaluronic acid, Juvederm incorporates a novel cross-linking technology that provides a smooth look and feel.

Cross-linking also helps Juvederm last longer. While hyaluronic acid normally occurs in liquid form, which the body metabolizes and eliminates in less than a day, cross-linked Juvederm is a gel that lasts one year or more. This means that after Juvederm is injected, its wrinkle-reducing effects last 12 months or longer. In June 2007, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved changes to the product’s labeling indicating that the effects of Juvederm may last for one year. No other dermal filler is approved to last as long.

Juvederm is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is proven to be safe and effective for persons with darker skin tones as well.
